Exploring some models of doing things.

Let’s say you have the capability to make people into industry ready.

Now you are excited, want to make people into industry ready and solve the problem of…

THE PROBLEM.
No quality people in companies to work.
No companies to hire capable people.

Now how do you approach this problem.
Some notations: From the pool of people whom you can reach/touch/access, the quality is in comparison between these people. When I refer best, means from the pool of people you decide to address.

Standard approach is (Train and then make them hire)
  • to start a training institute and
  • invite passed out students and
  • train them for industry ready.

The problems as you know the input quality of the people is quite low. The lowest quality input, but there will be some gems always. The way to survive is you must go with mass market where you address huge people, where few people get benefited. Or huge price with best quality training. The fundamental problem with this is your input quality is low. At the end it’s the student who has to become capable, by putting the efforts.

Second approach is (Train and make them hire in better companies)
  • to start a virtual institute and
  • Invite people when they are studying B.Tech
  • Train them for few semesters, after that
  • Find the right set of people and train them in the best way you can.

This will give you access to best quality people. You can make them the best they could be.
When the process is perfectly followed, the KPI will be how better companies they are getting placed.
Once that is achieved, more people will flow in, count of quality people will raise, and average quality will fall.

Third approach is (Hire and make them industry ready)
  • To start a training institute and
  • Invite companies to participate
  • Do campus drives for them
  • Train the selected people and make them industry ready.

This will give you access to decent quality people. You can make them capable, with some ease, than the first approach.
And you can also keep the first approach of inviting people, a good set of people who pass the same filter you use for campus hire. And train them and place them in matching companies. It’s the train and hire model followed by some industry people. It’s like you filter with the base qualities needed, in large numbers, train them, then hire them. This approach is also OK, to go with.

At the end every company has different quality bar of people. So if you can raise above that bar of quality in software creation capable people, that would be sufficient to make the companies happy.

For any organisation to run healthy for long time, it has to have necessary money flowing. So picking up the right financial model, which will give value for money for the people who trust is also critical. Once you deliver the value for money, your money flow will be in a state to run the institute.

And at the core is to have committed people to work.
